Blue Shield of California has officially named Mike Stuart as its new president and CEO, marking a significant leadership change for the major health insurer. One of the most significant programs launched during Stuart's tenure as CFO is Pharmacy Care Reimagined. This initiative moves Blue Shield away from traditional pharmacy benefit management arrangements towards a more unbundled approach, aiming to tackle issues of affordability and access in pharmaceutical care.

Stuart also outlined Blue Shield's commitment to a digital-first approach in its broader strategy. Stuart's background, which includes 11 years at the Daughters of Charity Health System and two decades in healthcare leadership roles, positions him well to navigate these complex issues.
