Sanner Group Announces Leadership Change Amid Expansion Efforts

German medical device contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) and healthcare packaging specialist Sanner Group has announced a significant leadership transition as part of its ongoing growth strategy. This change comes as the company continues to expand its global footprint, particularly in the United States.

Interim CEO Appointed as Sanner Prepares for New Leadership

Sanner Group has named Chairman Heino Lennartz as interim CEO, following the departure of Dr. Johannis Willem van Vliet. The temporary appointment will bridge the gap until Stefan Verheyden assumes the role of chief executive later this fall.

Verheyden brings over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biopharma sectors, with a strong background in primary packaging. His most recent position was as global vice president of sales for pharma and biopharma injectables at Gerresheimer, a prominent medication and drug delivery devices company.

Heino Lennartz expressed enthusiasm for the incoming CEO, stating, "We are delighted to welcome Mr. Verheyden to the Sanner Group as experienced CEO. His many years of expertise and reputation in the industry will be a great asset to us in both the packaging and CDMO sectors."

Expansion Efforts Continue with New U.S. Manufacturing Facility

The leadership change announcement follows closely on the heels of Sanner's recent expansion in the United States. The company has opened a new 60,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Greensboro, North Carolina, further cementing its presence in the North American market.

This expansion builds upon Sanner's previous acquisitions in the U.S., including the purchase of medtech CDMO Gilero in September of the previous year and Springboard Pro in early 2024. These strategic moves have significantly bolstered Sanner's capabilities and market reach in the medical technology sector.

Global Growth and Future Plans

While Sanner's history spans over a century, the company only established its medical device CDMO division in 2019. Since then, it has rapidly expanded its operations, now boasting facilities in the United States, Germany, France, and China. The company has also announced plans to construct a second production facility in China, underlining its commitment to global growth.

Sanner currently supplies products to more than 150 countries and employs over 800 people worldwide. The company's diverse portfolio includes medical devices, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, and consumer healthcare products, positioning it as a versatile player in the healthcare industry.

As Sanner Group continues its expansion efforts under new leadership, the company appears poised for further growth and innovation in the competitive pharmaceutical and medical device markets.
