American Heart Association Invests in Auxira Health, Boosting Cardiology Care Innovation

Auxira Health, a startup revolutionizing cardiology care, has secured a strategic investment from the American Heart Association's venture capital arm, Studio Red. This collaboration aims to expand Auxira's innovative white-label telehealth staffing solution nationwide, addressing critical challenges in the cardiology field.
Addressing Provider Burnout and Patient Access
Auxira Health, co-developed by MedStar Health and Abundant Ventures, tackles the growing workload on cardiology care teams amid surging demand for cardiac care. With 10,000 people turning 65 daily in the U.S., practices face physician shortages and rising administrative burdens.
Inna Plumb, co-founder and CEO of Auxira Health, explained, "Auxira launched to address a real-world challenge that just about every provider group faces, which is provider burnout and patient access." The company's solution virtually embeds full clinical support teams into existing cardiology practice workflows, managing administrative and lower-acuity clinical tasks.
Impressive Results and Expansion Plans
MedStar Health, an early adopter of Auxira's model, has reported significant improvements:
- 37% increase in capacity
- 14% improvement in patient satisfaction
- 35% reduction in after-hours "pajama time" for physicians
- Enhanced new and established patient appointment availability
- Increased relative value units per patient seen by cardiologists
- Improved Press Ganey patient experience scores
Auxira plans to use the investment from American Heart Association Ventures to grow its team and invest in technology, with a focus on automation. The collaboration extends beyond financial support, providing access to AHA resources through Studio Red.
Strategic Partnership and Future Outlook
Lisa Suennen, managing partner at American Heart Association Ventures, stated, "Auxira Health represents the kind of high-impact innovation that Studio Red was created to support." The partnership will enable Auxira to leverage AHA's research capabilities, participate in conferences, and provide unique training opportunities for its providers.
While currently focused on expanding within cardiology, Auxira has ambitions to bring its model to other medical specialties. Plumb noted, "We've really developed some great IP around that, and we are excited to bring that to other specialties as well."
