Sanner Expands Global Footprint with First US Manufacturing Facility

German contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) Sanner has inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in the United States, marking a significant milestone in the company's global expansion strategy. The new plant, located in Greensboro, North Carolina, enhances Sanner's ability to serve North American clients in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.

State-of-the-Art Facility Boosts US Production Capabilities

The newly opened Greensboro facility spans over 60,000 square feet and features GMP-certified clean rooms equipped with advanced auto injection molding and high-speed desiccant filling capabilities. This strategic investment allows Sanner to offer local production services for drug-device combinations, diagnostics, connected health devices, and pharmaceutical packaging to its North American customer base.

Christian Classen, Sanner's Chief Sales Officer, emphasized the importance of this development, stating, "This is more than just a new facility. It's a bold step forward in our global journey, reinforcing our long-term commitment to supporting our customers in North America with local production, cutting-edge technology, and world-class service."

The facility's design includes an additional 20,000 square feet of space earmarked for future expansions, demonstrating Sanner's long-term commitment to growth in the region. While specific financial details and hiring plans were not disclosed, the company noted that it currently employs over 820 people worldwide.

Strategic Acquisitions Fuel Sanner's North American Presence

Sanner's establishment of a US manufacturing facility follows a series of strategic acquisitions aimed at strengthening its position in the North American market. In September, the company acquired medtech CDMO Gilero, which was preceded by the purchase of another medtech firm, Springboard Pro, in early 2024. These acquisitions have played a crucial role in cementing Sanner's presence in the region and expanding its service offerings.

The German CDMO, which traces its roots back 134 years, has been rapidly expanding its global footprint in recent years. In addition to its new US facility, Sanner operates plants in Germany, France, Hungary, and China. The company has also announced plans to construct a second manufacturing facility in China, further solidifying its position as a global player in the pharmaceutical and medical device CDMO space.
