Hippocratic AI Expands Globally with KPMG Partnership, Addressing Healthcare Workforce Shortages

Hippocratic AI, a rapidly growing healthcare technology company, has announced a strategic collaboration with KPMG's global healthcare consulting practice. This partnership aims to accelerate the deployment of Hippocratic AI's patient-facing clinical AI agents internationally, addressing severe workforce shortages in the healthcare sector.

KPMG to Advise on AI Implementation

KPMG will play a crucial role in counseling its clients, primarily health systems and governments, on how to effectively deploy Hippocratic AI's clinical agents. The focus will be on scenarios where there are significant workforce shortages or where the AI agents could substantially improve access to care. This collaboration is expected to drive the adoption of AI in healthcare settings worldwide, with a particular emphasis on value-based care, Medicare Advantage, and single-payer healthcare systems.

Anna van Poucke, KPMG International's Global Head of Healthcare, highlighted the urgency of this initiative, stating, "The WHO is saying by 2030 we will have a shortage of 11 million healthcare workers, and that's not just in the high-income countries, that's everywhere in this world. So we think that this is a necessity in healthcare to start moving in this direction."

Hippocratic AI's Rapid Growth and International Expansion

Founded in March 2023, Hippocratic AI has experienced significant growth and financial backing. The company has raised substantial funding, including a $53 million series A in March 2024, a $17 million investment from Nvidia, and a $141 million series B round in January 2025. This financial support has enabled Hippocratic AI to expand its operations and develop AI agents for nearly 100 use cases.

Munjal Shah, co-founder of Hippocratic AI, emphasized the company's international focus: "Most of the time, when you build a health tech startup, you focus on the U.S. first because it's such a big market, and you only go international years later, but we're seeing that really what you want to do is something a little bit different. You want to focus on really the forward-thinking, AI glass-half-full systems that really do want to be on the forefront of deploying AI technologies within healthcare."

The company is already working with organizations in the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Singapore. However, Shah noted that Hippocratic AI would not be focusing on expansion in Europe due to the recently passed EU AI Act, which classifies their agents as high-risk.

Addressing Global Healthcare Challenges

Hippocratic AI's technology has shown promising results, with its agents automating 2.5 million patient calls to date. The AI-driven approach is particularly effective for low acuity, high volume interventions, offering a cost-effective solution to address the growing healthcare workforce shortage crisis.

The collaboration between Hippocratic AI and KPMG aims to leverage AI technology to supplement aging populations and workforces worldwide. KPMG's extensive resources, including consultants and legal teams, will help ensure smooth implementation and compliance with local AI regulations.

Van Poucke emphasized the transformative potential of this partnership: "The combination of the two firms is going to lead the healthcare sector to the solution of being able to provide equitable, accessible care."
