Philips and Medtronic Extend Patient Monitoring Partnership, Enhancing Healthcare Provider Offerings

Medtronic and Philips have announced a renewal of their long-standing collaboration in patient monitoring, reinforcing a partnership that has spanned three decades. The extended multi-year strategic agreement aims to provide healthcare providers with an integrated system that combines vital sign sensors and patient monitoring equipment.

Expanded Product Integration

Under the renewed partnership, Philips' monitors will continue to incorporate Medtronic's established brands, including Nellcor pulse oximetry, Microstream capnography, and BIS brain monitoring sensors. The latest agreement expands this integration to include additional Philips supplies such as electrocardiogram and non-invasive blood pressure equipment, as well as battery packs.

Sachin Chaudhari, VP and General Manager for clinical applications and devices under Philips' hospital patient monitoring business, emphasized the significance of this collaboration: "We're proud to strengthen our collaboration with Medtronic, a partner that shares our commitment to expanding access to safe, reliable patient care."

Enhanced Support for Healthcare Professionals

The partnership aims to address the challenges faced by care teams in their daily practice. By offering a comprehensive monitoring solution validated across all stages, the collaboration seeks to support clinicians dealing with heavy workloads and complex patient cases.

Chaudhari further explained, "By providing a comprehensive monitoring solution that is validated throughout all stages, we're supporting clinicians' heavy workloads and complex patient cases by providing tools that can help address the daily challenges care teams face."

Broader Collaboration in Neurovascular Care

Beyond patient monitoring, Philips and Medtronic have also joined forces to improve access to stroke therapy. Late last year, the two companies initiated efforts to establish a global network of neurovascular care centers, offering a full spectrum of services from early diagnosis to rehabilitation.

As part of this initiative, both companies have become members of the World Stroke Organization's Advocacy Coalition. Their commitment to advancing stroke care was further demonstrated by their joint hosting of an event at the World Stroke Congress in Abu Dhabi last October.
