Philips and Nvidia Partner to Develop AI Foundation Model for MRI

Philips, a leading healthcare technology company, has announced a strategic partnership with chip maker Nvidia to create a foundational artificial intelligence (AI) model for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This collaboration aims to address specific challenges in MRI technology and potentially revolutionize medical imaging workflows.

AI-Powered Advancements in MRI Technology

The partnership between Philips and Nvidia will focus on training an AI model using large datasets to support the development of applications that could enhance image quality, accelerate scan times, and improve diagnostic accuracy. Philips has outlined several key objectives for this initiative:

• Enabling zero-click scan planning across different anatomies
• Accelerating workflows
• Supporting interactive image enhancement capabilities, such as noise removal

This project builds upon Nvidia's existing models, Vista-3D and Maisi, which are designed for 3D medical imaging and generating synthetic images, respectively.
