Registrar Corp. Expands Global Reach with Acquisition of CMC Medical Devices

Registrar Corp., a U.S.-based compliance specialist and unit of Paine Schwartz Partners, has announced the acquisition of Spanish medical device consulting services provider CMC Medical Devices. This strategic move aims to bolster Registrar's global compliance offering and extend its reach in the medical device and in vitro diagnostic regulation markets.
Expanded Market Coverage and Service Offerings
The merger is set to create a powerhouse in medical device compliance, with the combined entity expected to cover more than 75% of the global medical device market. Registrar Corp. CEO Raj Shah emphasized the significance of this expansion, stating, "Together, we offer medical device manufacturers a single partner to navigate complex regulations and access the U.S., EU, and other key global markets—so they can focus on innovation rather than compliance."
CMC Medical currently serves clients in over 70 countries, while Registrar's existing operations span 190 countries, covering industries such as food and beverage, cosmetics, and over-the-counter drugs. This acquisition will allow Registrar to provide comprehensive services to aid medical device and in vitro diagnostic regulation companies in bringing new products to market more efficiently.
Strategic Alignment and Client Benefits
Manuel Mateos, CEO of CMC Medical, expressed enthusiasm about the merger, highlighting the shared mission of the two companies. "Joining Registrar Corp. enables us to deliver even greater value to our clients," Mateos said. "Our shared mission is to help manufacturers reach patients faster with trusted, region-specific compliance support."
The combined expertise of Registrar and CMC Medical is expected to streamline the regulatory process for medical device manufacturers, potentially accelerating the time-to-market for new products while ensuring compliance with complex global regulations.
Industry Trend Towards Consolidation and Efficiency
This acquisition follows a recent trend in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries towards consolidation and improved efficiency in regulatory processes. Just a week prior to this announcement, Swiss CDMO Lonza acquired French rapid microbiology testing firm Redberry SAS, aiming to strengthen and expedite quality control testing in response to the industry's growing demand for faster product releases without compromising safety or regulatory standards.
While financial details of the Registrar-CMC Medical deal were not disclosed, the move reflects the ongoing focus on expanding global reach and enhancing regulatory compliance services in the rapidly evolving medical device market.
