Highmark, a major health insurance provider, has announced a strategic partnership with digital health platform Noom to offer an innovative weight management solution to its members. The collaboration, unveiled at the HLTH 2025 conference in Las Vegas, aims to provide personalized care journeys for weight loss, diabetes prevention, and management.
Holistic Approach to Member Health
The partnership between Highmark and Noom reflects a growing trend in the healthcare industry towards whole-person health solutions. Maria Baker, vice president for health strategy and delivery at Highmark, emphasized the importance of meeting people "where they are" and addressing health concerns through familiar channels.
"The healthcare industry can forever try to make people come to us and think about our language, or we can meet people where they are," Baker stated. "And one of the best ways to do that is to meet people in a language they understand, and through a door that people are always talking about."
Noom's Tailored Programs
Noom's platform offers three main tracks designed to cater to patients at different stages of their health journey:

Cody Fair, chief commercial officer for Noom, highlighted the alignment between the two companies in prioritizing the consumer experience. "We care very deeply about the member experience, and it was really nice working with Highmark because that was of utmost importance," Fair commented.
Integration with GLP-1 Medications and Living Health Strategy
The partnership also addresses the recent surge in interest surrounding GLP-1 medications for weight management. Noom's GLP-1 management solution will be available to all Highmark members who report taking these drugs, integrating with their behavior change program for a comprehensive approach to weight management.
This collaboration is part of Highmark's broader Living Health strategy, which aims to create a "digital front door" for members. Tracy Saula, senior vice president and chief product and experience officer at Highmark, explained the company's approach to vendor selection: "We try to pick who we truly love and think is the best, philosophically aligned with our strategy, and then deeply integrate them with each other and with us."
By offering Noom's services at no additional cost to eligible members, Highmark is taking a significant step towards improving health outcomes and member satisfaction through innovative digital health solutions.
