Philips and Getinge Form Strategic Alliance to Streamline Anesthesia Delivery and Patient Monitoring

Philips and Getinge have announced a new commercial alliance aimed at integrating their respective technologies for patient monitoring and anesthesia delivery into a unified workstation. This collaboration seeks to simplify operations in operating rooms and provide healthcare providers with a more efficient, high-quality patient care solution.

Integrated Anesthesia Platform: A Single Point of Contact

The partnership between Philips and Getinge will offer healthcare facilities a single point of contact for purchasing, training, and support of the integrated anesthesia platform. This streamlined approach is designed to address the common request from clinicians for interoperable systems, regardless of manufacturer.

Brian Bell, Philips' business leader for enterprise hospital monitoring, emphasized the importance of this integration, stating, "We often hear from clinicians: 'It would be great if the systems worked together—regardless of who made them.' By combining our strengths, we're making it easier for healthcare providers to access advanced technologies that support efficient, high-quality patient care."

Technical Integration and Shared Computing Language

The alliance will focus on connecting Philips' IntelliVue vital sign monitors with Getinge's Flow Family, which includes ventilators, oxygen support, and anesthetic dosing machines. To facilitate this integration, the companies will develop a shared computing language, enabling smoother connectivity between their systems and allowing for integration with broader hospital networks.

This technical collaboration builds upon Philips' earlier efforts in developing patient data standards. The company had previously announced its work on these standards with Getinge, as well as other medtech firms including Dräger, Hamilton Medical, and B.Braun.
