April 7, 2026: Alzamend Neuro, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALZN) reported encouraging exploratory pharmacodynamic findings from a brain magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) analysis in healthy volunteers (N=6) conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital comparing AL001 vs lithium carbonate. In a randomized crossover design, participants received 14 days of blood-bioequivalent and lithium-dose equivalent AL001 or lithium carbonate; five metabolites (including myo-inositol and glutamate) were assessed across 18 brain regions.

Key preliminary trends (qualitative; not statistically confirmed) suggested AL001 may have a distinct and potentially less disruptive neurochemical footprint than lithium carbonate. Both treatments trended toward reducing myo-inositol (consistent with lithium’s expected mechanism), with AL001 showing reductions in 17/18 regions vs 8/18 for lithium carbonate. Glutamate was largely undisturbed in 10/18 regions after AL001, while lithium carbonate appeared to disrupt glutamate across all regions, implying possible tolerability advantages for AL001 that require longer and larger confirmatory studies. The company said confirmation efforts are underway, starting with an additional patient population study.
