Oct. 13, 2026: aTyr Pharma (NASDAQ: ATYR) announced a Journal of Biological Chemistry publication on preclinical ATYR0101, a fusion protein targeting latent transforming growth factor beta binding protein 1 (LTBP-1) to induce myofibroblast apoptosis for fibrotic diseases. The paper reports that ATYR0101 selectively triggered myofibroblast apoptosis via an active TGF-β-dependent mechanism. In an in vivo bleomycin lung fibrosis model, ATYR0101 significantly reduced collagen content and Ashcroft score, leading to a marked decline in pulmonary fibrosis versus nintedanib control. The company said ATYR0101 has also shown anti-fibrotic effects in lung and kidney fibrosis models, supporting potential use in diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Catalyst status: preclinical/publication update. Upcoming milestone: ATYR0101 is in IND-enabling studies, with the company expecting to advance it into the clinic in 2027.
