October 9, 2026: Genentech (Roche Group; SIX: RO, ROP; OTCQX: RHHBY) said the FDA approved Tecentriq (atezolizumab) and Tecentriq Hybreza (atezolizumab and hyaluronidase-tqjs) with a fluoropyrimidine and oxaliplatin for adjuvant treatment of stage III deficient DNA mismatch repair (dMMR) colon cancer after surgery.

The approval was based on the Phase III ATOMIC study (NCT02912559), published in The New England Journal of Medicine. In 712 patients with stage III dMMR colon cancer, adding Tecentriq to mFOLFOX6 reduced the risk of disease recurrence or death by 50% versus mFOLFOX6 alone. Thirty-six-month disease-free survival was 86% with Tecentriq plus mFOLFOX6 versus 76% with mFOLFOX6 alone. The safety profile was consistent with prior studies of Tecentriq and mFOLFOX6.

Genentech said this is the first approved adjuvant immunotherapy regimen for stage III dMMR colon cancer and the twelfth U.S. indication for Tecentriq. The ATOMIC trial was sponsored in the U.S. by the National Cancer Institute and led by the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, with Genentech support under a CRADA.
